The reasons I went “paid” and a sneak peek of the future

So, since I am finishing the new Lapp website at this very moment, I posting here what was there at the time the comic was on hold for the launch on Graphic.ly. Here goes the text and images:

This website is being rebuilt

Is the Light Apprentice Project over?

Three years ago, when I first started this project, I didn’t know exactly what I was going into. But once I set my goal, I went after it with all the guts possible to find in a man. And I have gone far. I have moved from my home country to a completely different one for the sake of the project, got over many difficulties and obstacles, and I have fully dedicated three years of sweat and tears to the making of Light Apprentice.

All of that so you could read it for free. I never wanted to be rich with this, I just wanted to tell this story for the biggest audience possible. And I really, really appreciate that you have read the comic and visited this website.

But somewhere along the way, I have realized I had to make a living of this project, that to make more of it I had to at least pay my bills and keep making more of it. I needed it to be sustainable, but I still wanted it to be for free for you. So I tried many things: earning money through merchandising, through different ads services, etc, and even went crowdfunding when things got rough late last year. Nothing really worked.

And now, when things looked worse than ever… when I almost couldn’t maintain myself anymore, that I was almost giving it up, almost going back to where I started and taking the path I should have followed instead before starting it all… when I was almost giving up EVERYTHING… a solution came up. A perfectly sustainable one.

I will start selling the comic. Yes. But for CHEAP. So I can eat, pay my rent, then pay my freelance animators and artists. So I can make more content for you - so YOU can keep on following the adventures of Nate and Co. throughout the next years, both in the comics and animation.

I still have a story to tell.

So I need you to buy the comic when it comes out: the relaunch of the first issue will happen on April 1st (seriously) and you can buy it here, on lightapprentice.com. It will cost only 1 US Dollar. And you will be able to read it on your computer, iPod, iPad or/and on your Android mobile.

And the best thing is: I have planned to release one issue every month. Every first Friday of every month. But ONLY if this works out, I mean, if you buy the comics. And for this little price, it will have extra material (sketches, maps, notes, etc) and more in the future, I promise.

Have a sneek peak of what I’m planning for you in the next issues:

And two more animated episodes are coming really soon. Mark that - really soon. If you liked the first one, you will love the next two, I guarantee ya.

Well, thank you for your time. I hope I didn’t write too much.

You can also get connected with me on TwitterFacebook or DeviantART if you’d like to. Come say hi!
